#1 – Confirm Registration / Register

Voter Registration Deadlines

  1. February 24, 2023, is the last day for mail-in registrations, registrar registrations, delivered registrations, and agency registrations for all voters.
  2. March 3, 2023, at 6:00 p.m., is the last day for in-person voter registration in the office of the Election Commissioner of Wayne County for Wayne County voters and the office of the Election Commissioner of Dixon County for Dixon County voters.

Voters who change information on a current registration or register to vote after the ballots are mailed but before the in-person registration deadline of March 3, 2023, at 6:00 p.m., will be given a ballot at the time of registration or change.

#2 – Receive Ballot

This election will be an election by mail. 

  1. Each registered voter residing within the District will receive a ballot by mail at his/her address as it appears on the voter registration register; and therefore, no polling places will be open for voting. 
  2. Ballots will be mailed by the Election Commissioner of Wayne County on February 21, 2023.
  3. Registered voters wishing to vote in the Special Election who will be absent from their residences, wish to pick up their ballot at the Wayne County Courthouse, or prefer to vote at the courthouse may do so between February 13, 2023 and February 17, 2023.

#3 – Return Completed Ballot

Voted ballots that are sealed in the “Return Identification Envelope” may be returned by one of the following means:

U.S. Mail:  Place postage on the envelope and mail the ballot back in the addressed envelope provided;

If returning by mail, it’s important to mail at least 1 week prior to voting closing to ensure the Commissioner receives it BEFORE March 14, 2023.

Hand Delivery (Wayne and Dixon County voters):  Deliver the ballot to the County Clerk of Wayne County at 510 Pearl Street, Suite 5, Wayne, Nebraska 68787; or

Drop Box (Wayne and Dixon County voters):  The ballot can also be placed in the drop box on the north side of the Wayne County Courthouse located at 510 Pearl Street, Wayne, Nebraska 68787.

All ballots from Wayne and Dixon County voters must be in the possession of the Wayne County Election Commissioner no later than 5:00 p.m. on Election Day, March 14, 2023.
